Scientists have detected gravitational waves that are a result of two black holes merging 1.3 billion years ago. They have detected something we cannot see! This event will give us significant insight into the universe.
I’m excited about the confirmation of gravitational waves because this type of discovery is one of the motivating factors in my abstract photography—that is to look beyond what we can ‘see’, to know and trust that there is more in life than what we observe with our eyes or other senses.
I love the irony of my abstract art being a visual medium when the roots of my motivation are non-visual. I’m more excited than ever to look deeply and discover facets in photography that may inspire others to challenge the perceptions our senses create and look for what we cannot see.
