Western influence is on my mind with the upcoming
Western Design Conference in Jackson, WY starting September 4. I was delighted to see Andy Warhol’s “Sitting Bull” in
212 Gallery in Aspen this week. What a great exhibit! His drawing of the Buffalo Nickel and other western icons had a simplicity about them that was moving. Just think, in Warhol’s crazy world of pop art, he took the time to express aspects of the West, beautifully. The exhibit and special sale isn’t just a western theme, but it was refreshing to see Warhol’s subtle interpretation of the influences of western culture in our society. Like his work, these influences are timeless.
